Center Dampener / Springs

Center Springs -

When a spring is compressed it pushes back from what ever it is against. This force doesn't just disapear it is transfered to the front of the car. This force can used as a tuning option to control on power steering. The angle of the spring points the direction of the force. Angle 1 is where stock mini-z's have there spring. The force is projected way in front of the car. This is partly why stock mini z chassis have little on power rear traction. Angles 2 and 3 are where the Pro-Z shock mounts are located. The lower the front shock mount is positioned the more rear traction is produced useing the exact same spring.

The higher the angle of the center spring the more on power steering the lower the angle the more rear traction

Center Dampening -

Dampening on the other hand has little or no forward weight transfer. The angle of a dampener is not as criticle as a spring would be. The Pro-Z dampening tube can be filled with any number of silicone fluids for a full range of setup changes I recammend using Losi hydra drive fluids or BRP Heavie fluid.

How it works -

As the car hits a bump causing the dampener to go forward it slows the action down, phisicly holding the tires to the ground longer producing more grip. Dampening also eliminates that annoying rear chatter found when using high horsepower motors. The dampener can be used in conjunction with a center spring.

How to put fluid in the dampener

Select a fluid to put in i would start with med weight losi hydra drive fluid. Or BRP clear silicone fluid. Fill the small grooves of the male end and put a little in the female end. Then put the 2 together and spin one end as it goes in, to evenly cover the dampening tube. Excess fluid will shoot out the small hole in the base of the dampener. This hole is there for a breather to stop a vacume from being formed inside. Just wipe it clean and it's ready to be installed.

Shorter Dampening Tube -

If you need to shorten the dampener tube take a sharp exacto blade or other hobby knife and cut the ballends first, cut them in half before cutting into the dampener itself. Also be sure not to let the thread go past the breather hole when you rebuild it.
